Basil Pesto

Fresh basil pesto is easier to make at home than you may think

And the best part about making it at home is you are in control of what is going in it! Meaning, if you are watching your fat intake, you can choose to omit the oil and cheese making it more macro friendly



What you will need

  • 1c basil

  • 28g pine nuts

  • 1 clove garlic

  • Juice from 1/2 lemon

  • Sea salt

  • Pepper

What to do

  • toast your pine nuts until fragrant at 350

  • With a mortar and pestle, combine the pine nuts, lemon, garlic, lemon, salt and pepper

  • Once combined, add in the basil and continue until your preferred consistency is met

  • Optional add ins - olive oil, parmesan cheese
