continuous progression over constant perfection
I have this mentality constantly imposing on me that I have to be always making progress in all aspects of life that sometimes it causes me to lose focus. And I don't think I am alone here.
We can not give 100% every time
We can try. And we should try, always to be the best versions of ourselves. To see areas where we can improve and be better.
But note that continuous progression is more important than constant perfection (or, the strive for perfection) . Or, in the famous words of Mark Twain - 'Continuous improvement is better than delayed perfection.'
We should put our best in everything we do. But we also need to be able to recognize when it is time to take a step back, sit down and breathe. To give ourselves a break, so we can return with our focus sharp and full of intent. To not beat ourselves up that today was not as perfect as yesterday and instead celebrate the little victories (because little improvements are still improvements). To celebrate the progress we have made and continue to make.
Aiming to achieve 'perfection' every time we do something - may it be a workout, balancing the nutrients for a meal, or how much of ourselves we are giving in our work - will lead us to burn out much faster than we would if we instead strive for little improvements and sustainable progress.
Just take a deep breath. Trust the process. Keep doing you. You got this baby
