cinnamon oat french toast
there’s something so comforting about warm french toast. the only problem i have with it is the mass amount of refined carbs and added sugars in your typical french toast. don’t get me wrong - it is so good and there is nothing wrong with enjoying it every now and then, but if you want to make it a staple breakfast, try using this recipe that has a more balanced distribution of macronutrients and will keep you fueled and nourished with healthy carbs & protein.
CINNAMON OAT FRENCH TOAST
what you’ll need
2 slices whole wheat cinnamon raisin bread
3 tbs egg whites
10 g greek yogurt
20g oats
0.5 tbs coconut oil
cinnamon
what to do
combine the egg whites and greek yogurt in a cake pan or a bowl big enough to fit the slices of bread
allow the bread to soak in the mixture for a minute on each side
while the bread is soaking, heat a pan on the stove with coconut oil
sprinkle oats on each side of the bread
once coconut oil has melted, place the bread on the stove and allow to cook until golden brown, flip and cook the other side
remove from heat and top with more cinnamon and maple syrup
serve with fresh fruits & coffee :)
