cinnamon oat french toast

there’s something so comforting about warm french toast. the only problem i have with it is the mass amount of refined carbs and added sugars in your typical french toast. don’t get me wrong - it is so good and there is nothing wrong with enjoying it every now and then, but if you want to make it a staple breakfast, try using this recipe that has a more balanced distribution of macronutrients and will keep you fueled and nourished with healthy carbs & protein.

CINNAMON OAT FRENCH TOAST

what you’ll need

  • 2 slices whole wheat cinnamon raisin bread

  • 3 tbs egg whites

  • 10 g greek yogurt

  • 20g oats

  • 0.5 tbs coconut oil

  • cinnamon

what to do

  • combine the egg whites and greek yogurt in a cake pan or a bowl big enough to fit the slices of bread

  • allow the bread to soak in the mixture for a minute on each side

  • while the bread is soaking, heat a pan on the stove with coconut oil

  • sprinkle oats on each side of the bread

  • once coconut oil has melted, place the bread on the stove and allow to cook until golden brown, flip and cook the other side

  • remove from heat and top with more cinnamon and maple syrup

  • serve with fresh fruits & coffee :)
